STOCKHOLM, WEATHER, CURRENCY ETC.
Stockholm is the capital and the most populous city in Sweden and Scandinavia, with a total population of a little over 2,000,000 in the metropolitan area. Founded in c. 1250, possibly as early as 1187, Stockholm has long been one of Sweden’s cultural, media, political, and economic centres. Its strategic location spread across 14 islands on the coast in the southeast of Sweden at the mouth of Lake Mälaren, by the Stockholm archipelago, has been historically important. The city is known for its beauty, its buildings and architecture, its abundant clean and open water, and its many parks.
.
The temperature in Stockholm in November is between 0°C – +10°C with possibilities for rain. We suggest you bring a warm sweater and a rainproof jacket or coat.
 .
The currency is the Swedish Krona (the Swedish Crown).
.
Local transportation is provided with our assistance. Hosts will be at your disposal.

New selected performance: Hold

We are very exited to present our 11’th show for Swedstage 2014; HOLD.

HOLD, a fine-tuned and raw duet, sets out from the aesthetics of hip-hop to explore the yearning for intimacy and the human urge to construct meaningfulness. An exploration of the improvised, the moments created and the decissions made.

The show is portrayed by two of Sweden’s top street dancers, Anton Borgström and Robin Sundberg in collaboration with the choreographer and director Erik Linghede. Together, by twisting and turning various styles such as popping and waving, they created an innovative sensitive performance that communicates beyond norms and stereotypes.”

You’ll find more info about HOLD here.

Lucy

The 10th Swedstage show is now official! We are very happy to present Arkeolog 8’s acclaimed performance Lucy.

Through the five dancers, the audience gets to know Lucy who is both fragile, strong and proud. She is more than what you first see: what is bubbling within her, slowly comes oozing out through the show and looses up the boundary between what we see and don’t. Tight braids and heavy skirts sweeps us into a captivating show with Archeologist 8′s typical expression: tough, urban dance with groove, sharpness and power. Lucy is a strong, effective dance performance investigating how to claim social space, different expectations on gender and identity formation.

You’ll find more info about Lucy here.

Rosa brus

One more performance is ready for Swedstage 2014! Rosa brus is a dance and circus performance about gender and equality. The performance gives the audience an intimate and personal glimpse of two young people and their struggle to find a way to relate to each other. With an innovative approach to movements, Cauda works in the boarder between genres such as dance, circus and physical theatre.

The show raises questions of how gender roles affect and limit us – whether we are male or female.
